Illini Union Construction Update

Blocked Access to the Illini Union Circle Drive (3/10, 6 - Noon)

NOTICE:

There will be a sustained outage of the Illini Union Circle Drive beginning at 6AM – Noon on Sunday, 3/10/13. The Illini Union Infrastructure Phase II renovation project is coordinating delivery of new air handling equipment via crane to the fourth floor. This will require vehicles & pedestrians to remain outside of the construction zone barricades.

• Normal dock usage will not be affected;

• Normal use of Lot D-10 will also not be affected except for access from Circle Drive;

• Pedestrian access to the building will only be minimally affected from the East end of Circle Drive;

• Appropriate safety precautions and countermeasures will be taken to ensure our staff, students and other guests are able to still access the building and be kept safe.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to improve our facilities infrastructure.

The Illini Union Infrastructure Phase II renovation project is coordinating delivery of steel via crane to the fourth floor. This will require vehicles & pedestrians to remain outside of the construction zone barricades.

• Normal dock usage will not be affected;

• Normal use of Lot D-10 will also not be affected except for access from Circle Drive;

Bike Racks closed on SE and SW sides of Union

Southwest and Southeast bike parking areas will be out of commission beginning today (8/17/12) for an undetermined amount of time while new and improved racks are being constructed. Unclaimed bicycles left in the closed areas will be impounded by Campus Parking. To locate a bike once it’s been impounded, please contact Parking at 333-3530. Notice will be given once construction of new bike racks is complete.

Early morning power outage: 8/4/12

The Illini Union North Building (all floors, Lower Level - 4th floor) will experience a total power outage from 12AM - 4AM Saturday morning (8/4/12). The outage will be due to work related to the Illini Union Infrastructure Phase 1 project. Again, all floors will be affected, but only in the North portion of the Illini Union. During the outage, hallways will have reduced lighting. Also, the Hotel Front Desk and main server for the building will be operational during this time. We appreciate your patience and ask that patrons use caution and avoid the affected areas when possible. All power will be restored after 4AM Saturday morning.

South exterior paint project: 7/16 - 8/23 (Expect closures)

The Illini Union will commence work on a paint project affecting the exterior of the South side (Quad-facing side). As part of an annual exterior maintenance program, work will begin Monday, 7/16/12 and is projected to end on or before August 23. The project will involve placing two large lifts at the East side of Anniversary Plaza for the initial week of work, requiring the Southeast entrance, steps, ADA accessible ramp, as well as the East half of the patio to be CLOSED. The Southwest entrance will remain open.

Customers requiring wheelchair access may use the West, North or East access ramps as alternate entries to the building.

The Illini Union Facilities staff will be adjusting the tables, seating and building entry points as construction allows, but safety for our workers and customers is our foremost concern. We thank you for your patience as we work to maintain the Illini Union as a campus landmark and center of student life on campus.

Partial A/C outage: 7/13/12 - 7/14/12

There will be a sustained air-conditioning outage to the Northwest Wing of the Illini Union, Floors 1–4. Beginning 6PM Friday (7/13/12) through 6PM Saturday (7/14/12). Specifically, this will impact the air conditioning in the Pine and Presidents Lounges, Art Gallery, the 222/227 suite, 3^rd Floor offices, and 4^th Floor Offices. During this time, the Pine Lounge, Presidents Lounge and Art Gallery will be CLOSED for construction. All other building utilities, including power, and IT operations will be operational in these areas.

Partial power outage : 6/8/12- 6/10/12

There will be a sustained power outage beginning Friday, 6/8/12 beginning at 6PM through 10PM Sunday, 6/10/12 in the Illini Union Northwest Wing 1st and 2nd Floors. Specifically, this will impact Presidents Lounge, Art Gallery, 1st Floor Operations Offices, and 2nd floor 222/227 suite. All computers and electronic equipment should be powered down and any food removed from refrigerator/freezers by close of business Friday. Special accommodation will be made to supply temporary power to the Hotel front desk, which will conduct normal business.

In the event the outage is completed ahead of schedule, notification will be sent out.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to renovate the Illini Union electrical infrastructure.
