Hello, my name is Brian Holifield and I am the graduate intern this year for the Office of Career Services. It has been a pleasure meeting some of you last semester as you work on your career goals and I look forward to meeting more of you this semester!

As the calendar quickly turns to the second month of 2010, the Office of Career Services has Career and Job Fairs coming up. Now is a perfect time to see me or one of the advisors to refresh your interviewing skills with a Mock Interview, stop in during our drop-in hours to have someone review your resume, or just schedule an appointment with us to discuss job searching skills or how to present yourself at a fair.

Remember to be professional at ALL times when you are attending a fair and this does not mean just your appearance. You never know when an employer you just met will be passing by as you grab a snack at the vending machine, use the restroom, or chatting with a friend. Sometimes it is the smaller things that can turn a great chance for an interview in to you being moved to the bottom of the list.

Below are the dates of our upcoming fairs and be on the lookout for some additional new and exciting workshop and programs we are developing this semester:
Thursday February 11th, 2010Internship and Part-Time Job Fair 10 AM-2 PMSCE, Illinois Room
Thursday March 4th, 2010Education Job Fair 1 PM-5 PM SSB, Meeting Rooms
Thursday March 18th, 2010Spring Diversity Career Fair 10 AM -2:30 PM SCE, Illinois Room

Yet just as the break flew by, so will the semester. Before you know it there will be mid-terms and finals to tackle. So, do not wait to begin your career preparation.
