I have been accepted to University of Illinois as a non music major. I would like to keep music in my life and intend to audition for ensembles in the fall. What other opportunities are there for a non music major. I see you can apply for a minor after 30 hours, but was wondering what else is available?
Also, are there music scholarships available for non music majors to play in ensembles, orchestras or bands. Would this require an audition and if so what would be the time frame?

I saw that U of I offers a bachelor of arts program with music composition emphasis, and I was wondering if after getting this BA can you still go on to get a masters or higher in music, even though you wouldn't have ensemble or applied music leasons?

Where should transcripts for Graduate Admissions be sent? Do they both go to the School of Music or should I submit one to the main university?

Primar and secondary major?

Hi I was wondering if someone would be able to apply for 2 majors (one being music) and if they did not pass auditions or decided to change thier mind would they be able to drop one and keep the other. I know that you would have to declare one as primary and one as secondary so how would i go about this being that i want to go to UIUC and if i don't pass aud. or choose not to go that i would still be able to attend with diff major. but if i do decide to major in music i would be able to drop the other major.

Thank you sory it sounds confusing

Hello, I'm interested in knowing who listens to the auditions of prospective students. Obviously the principal teacher would be there, but is he/she joined by the other teachers for that instrument family? For instance, is a brass student heard by ALL the brass faculty, or just the ones that student would work with? Is this different between undergraduate and graduate students?

Does the principal teacher have the final say in whether that student gets accepted? Who makes the decisions along the way? By this I mean, who looks at the student's initial application and decides whether the student should audition? Then who gets together and decides finally to accept/reject a student?
