Spring 2012 'Teaching With Technology' Brown Bag Series begins this Wednesday February 8,  Noon-1 p.m. in 23 Illini Hall

Presenting  an  'Illinois Compass 2g Showcase' featuring  selected tools and how they are used in teaching. Presenters include  Darin Eastburn (learning modules), Norma Scagnoli & Jill Moore (embedded media), Laura Hill (blended format) and Virginia  Peterson (groups and group projects). Please join us for an informative look at these selected Compass 2g teaching tools.

Performance Testing of Illinois Compass 2g

CITES has been working with Blackboard to do extensive performace testing on the new Illinois Compass 2g hardware and software since the beginning of January 2012. Tests have proven the robustness of our installation and have revelealed places where tweaks to settings and configurations can help us optimize performance even more. Final capacity testing is near the last step to our testing process and will occur early morning, Wednesday, February 1, 2012. 

Between 1:00-4:00 am tomorrow morning (Wednesday), large course testing will occur. 

Between 5:00 and 8:00am tomorrow morning (Wednesday), final capacity testing will occur through the load balancer with a high probabilty of system failure since we are testing for the highest capacity the system can support. System analysts will be on call to address any system downtime. Note that this testing occurs during our regularly scheduled maintenance window for Illinois Compass.

Introducing Illinois Compass Second Generation (Illinois Compass 2g) - November 2011

On November 17, 2011, Illinois Compass Second Generation made its campus-wide debut at Illinois. This is the most significant upgrade of Illinois Compass and the Blackboard software that powers it since CITES began running it in 2004. Users must choose to move to the second generation system in Spring, Summer or Fall 2012.
