  On Friday, September 21, the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine invested Indrani C. Bagchi, professor of comparative biosciences, as the next holder of the Field Chair in Reproductive Biology.
  
  The work of Dr. Indrani Bagchi significantly informs and advances the field of reproductive biology, both by elucidating the hormonal mechanisms regulating female fertility and by putting basic insights to practical use in novel contraceptives. Spanning basic and applied investigations, her laboratory exemplifies the University's mission to excel in translational biomedical research.
