Dr. Melissa Clark , Department of Comparative Biosciences, passed the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology Board Certifying Exam and will continue on to complete her Ph.D. in Pharmacology after three years in the Clinical Pharmacology Residency Program.
Dr. Fred Kummerow, CB's oldest department member at 98, recently published a manuscript reviewing his laboratory's findings on atherogenesis in Am J Cardiovascular Disease.
Joe Cacioppo, DVM/PhD candidate in the laboratory of Dr. CheMyong (Jay) Ko, presented a poster at the 2012 Illinois Symposium on Reproductive Sciences. Out of 85 poster presentations, Joe's presentation was selected as one of the top five.
Katrine Metry and Zaidimar Vargas, students in the Lavergne laboratory, win research awards.
Helen Sable (U of Memphis) and Rupesh Gupta (Proctor and Gamble), previously postdocs in the department, returned to speak at the Open House.
Ayelet Ziv-Gal receives SOT travel award and Dr. Zelieann Craig publishes in Biology of Reproduction.
Comparative Biosciences adjunct faculty member Dr. Safdar Khan was senior author on a retrospective study examining adverse reactions from natural flea products.
On April 23, 2014, the Dept. of Comparative Biosciences and College of Veterinary Medicine celebrated Dr. Fred Kummerow's centennial year with a symposium in his honor. Subsequently, NPR's Here and Now program interviewed Fred about his long struggle to get out the word about the adverse effects of trans fats in the diet.
