The UIS Pre-Law Center, in conjunction with the UIS Pre-Law Society, is proud to present a lecture by Paul Finkelman here on campus. Professor Finkelman is the President William McKinley Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy, and Senior Fellow in the Government Law Center at Albany Law School in Albany, New York. His areas of expertise include the law of slavery, constitutional law, and legal issues surrounding baseball. Professor Finkelman is also very well published with more than 100 scholarly articles and more than 20 books to his name. Additionally, he was the chief expert witness in the Alabama Ten Commandments monument case and his scholarship on religious monuments in public spaces has been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court. He was also a key witness in the suit over ownership of Barry Bonds' 73rd home run ball. Students will have the opportunity to attend a short lecture given by Professor Finkelman from 2:00 - 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 7th, in PAC 3B.
