  • Indoor swimming pool

I have a couple of comments about the indoor pool during the school year. Normally I am not one to complain because I understand that it can be annoying, but these issues about the indoor pool are important to me. Whenever I went to the indoor swimming pool last school year, the water was always extremely freezing. It didn't just happen once or twice, it was eveery time I went. It was very uncomfortable and definitely hindered me from wanting to swim there.

Also, I was wondering if you could have the indoor pool open for more hours during the day. It is only open for two hours, 11am-1pm. Unfortunately swimming is one of the only exercises I can do due to foot injuries and the indoor pool is better for me because of my allergies and asthma. The ARC is open for the entire day but for those of us who swim, we can only swim within that two hour time-frame in the indoor pool. I already know that I will not be able to swim during that time next semester because of class and/or work.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

The ARC indoor pool temperature is set between 80-81 degrees F. It is this tempature because it is a mixed-use pool so there is competitive swimming, club programs, and lap swimming. This temperature is a compromise between temperatures these entities would all prefer.

During the majority of the academic year, the ARC indoor pool is open from 6:30-7:45am; 11am-2pm; and from 5-10pm. The hours are from 11am-1pm only during the time the outdoor pool is open (May-September). If the outdoor temperature is below 60 degrees F, all swimming activity will move to the ARC indoor pool.

I hope this answers your questions.
