Fall in UIUC
While the official start of the Fall season was in September, the real sign of its arrival is the color changing of the leaves. Late in October it has finally arrived, when the leaves are changing colors and falling down to the sidewalks. As we walk through campus hearing the crisp sound of the fallen leaves under our shoes, we, the Technology Management students, have also finished the first half of the Fall semester.
In our one year program, the semester is packed accordingly to provide us with as many information as possible in twelve months. Each Fall and Spring semester is divided into half semesters, and as of this week we have just completed the first finals of our program. It was tough and challenging, with sighs of relief heard across the hallway and outside of our classes that the final exam is finally over. But even with that we all know that the next half of the Fall semester is just right around the corner.
The sight of the autumn colored leaves, that can only be described as enthralling, marks this changing of the classes, and some people can regard it as sort of a prize that we have completed this part of our journey. I came from Indonesia where there are only two seasons of rain and shine, so finally seeing such an elegant and natural phenomenon is nothing but rewarding. But as every reward tells you how great you have been doing thus far, all of us now are prepared and excited to see the second half of the semester and what it could bring to our educational voyage.
I will leave you with this excerpt from the song "We're Going to Be Friends" by the White Stripes.
Fall is here, hear the yell
Back to school, ring the bell
Brand new shoes, walking blues
Climb the fence, book and pens
I can tell that we are gonna be friends
