Hi Everyone! I've been working on making the New Titles Virtual Bookshelf a bit spiffier for LIS. Here is a very basic example of the New Titles Virtual Book Shelf.

Of course, that was only meant to be a basic, simple case. LIS needed something more, including multiple feeds (fund number and call number based new title feeds) which I achieved using Yahoo Pipes. They also wanted a big more visual pop to the output, so I whipped up some images and CSS, see the Example LIS New Titles VBS:

I am still doing some CSS clean-up (in cooperation with Jon, because some of the styling is inline). My current issue is this: the campus services web toolbox component I am using to slideshow through the items in the RSS feed can't currently handle anything outside basic ASCII. Well, okay maybe a bit more than that, but certainly not all the diacritics that are in many of our items titles/metadata. They hope this will be fixed in the next few weeks when they "upgrade their databases" (which I take to mean the software they use, so that it supports non-Latin characters). However, they can't guarantee this will fix it. Sooo...

Can anyone suggest any other javascript tools for handling the display of RSS feeds, one item at a time, that include both images and text content (I can find many that do one or the other, images or text, but not both).
