Budget update for the week of February 15, 2010.
I write to provide an update on some of our recent activities regarding the campus budget. Last week, we held a Budget Informational Session for Faculty on February 10 and February 12 as well as a Budget Informational Session for APs and Civil Service on February 11.
This week, we are meeting with small groups of faculty to discuss the budget on Monday, February 15, Wednesday, February 17, and Thursday, February 18. We have another small group faculty budget session scheduled for Monday, February 22. These meetings do not include formal presentations, but are meant to be frank and open conversations with those faculty members who choose to attend.
We will also have our third AP/Civil Service Budget Information Session on Tuesday, February 16.
Last Friday, Chancellor Easter and I sent an email to alumni outlining some of the details of the budget situation and encouraging alumni both to visit Stewarding Excellence @ Illinois and to offer feedback and suggestions. We have received many responses from alumni, and it is heartening to see their concern for the institution and their active engagement in the processes we are undertaking. We will work on responding to some of these suggestions in an upcoming FAQ section.
