The event kicked off with a networking reception on Thursday evening.  This was a great opportunity for the students to relax and network with fellow participants before they received the case.  On Friday morning, College of Business Dean Larry DeBrock and MBA Dean Stig Lanesskog welcomed the students.  The participants then received the case and went to their team work rooms to begin analyzing the case and preparing their presentations.  The case was about NCsoft, a leading developer and publisher of online games.

The preliminary round of presentations began Saturday morning.  The twelve teams were randomly divided into three presentation groups.  Each team presented during the preliminary round, and the top team from each presentation group advanced to the final round.

Iowa, Iowa State, and Miami University advanced to the final round and presented to a new panel of judges.  Each team had a very unique recommendation and approach to the case, and it was difficult for the judges to select just one winning team!

The event concluded with Dinner and an Awards Banquet, where all participants, sponsors, and judges were recognized.  The final awards are as follows:

    • 1st Place – University of Iowa ($4,000)
    • 2nd Place – Miami University ($2,000)
    • 3rd Place – Iowa State ($1,000)

The following individuals were recognized as Best Speaker:  Davis Moore (Baylor), Prnuv Sharma (Miami), Christina Lopiccolo (Ohio State), and Drew Mendrygal (Michigan State).

The following individuals were recognized as Best Q&A:  Ryan Kent (Iowa State), Julia Tran (Michigan), Vishwanath Nadgir (Illinois), and Yakubu Agbese (Iowa).

Sponsors of the case competition were ADM, Bosch, Cooper Power Systems, PolyOne, TriZetto, and Whirlpool.  Thanks to our corporate sponsors, alumni and friends of the Illinois MBA, and student volunteers, the event was a huge success!
