During the first week in October, MBA students from around the world flocked to Atlanta, GA to participate in the National Black MBA Conference festivities. Centered in the popular metropolitan area, Atlanta offered a large amount of additional exposure with companies such as Coca-Cola and Georgia Pacific residing in the city. As I had the pleasure of traveling to Atlanta to experience the conference first hand, I wanted to share my accounts with you in this edition of the Student Life Blog.
Hundreds of companies set up their booths for the arrivals of eager, ambitious MBA students in search of employment opportunities. The conference saw Fortune 500 companies filling interview slots for candidates in a myriad of functions including marketing, accounting, finance, consulting, and IT among others.
The NBMBA conference also featured a case competition and numerous helpful workshops focused on entrepreneurship, networking, and the aforementioned functions. Some of the workshops also showcased notable keynote speakers including author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey and popular R&B singer/humanitarian, John Legend.
Following the career fair, participants at the conference relished the chance to enjoy the city. Tickets to the Target and Diageo corporate events were hot and limited commodities, but those who were able to receive one gained another opportunity to network, listen to music, and have some fun.
Thank you for reading this edition of the Student Life Blog. Stay tuned for more posts coming this week!
