For today's edition of the Student Life Blog, we will finish up our recap of the 2011 National Black MBA Conference, which took place last week in Atlanta.
Friday marked the third day of the conference and second day of the career fair. For many of the students who received on-site interviews with the featured companies, those took place throughout the course of the day. Occurring simultaneously with the interviews was the second day of opportunity for candidates to impress the myriad of companies looking to fill vacancies.
The National Black MBA Conference also offered speed-networking sessions for the young professionals during the afternoon followed by the night’s entertainment ticket. The “Soul Suite” featured the rhythmic sounds of Musiq Soulchild and Club Jazz at the Omni Hotel respectively.
Saturday concluded the conference with a farewell brunch and golf tournament aimed to promote networking and relationship building, a common theme for the conference as a whole. Finally, conference participants were invited to assist in ATL Impacts, the NBMBA Atlanta Chapter's community service project.
All in all, the NBMBA conference helped its attendees effectively network, build relationships, and tell their stories to potential employers. The Illinois MBA boasted a high level of representation with current MBA students and alumni, serving in recruiting capacities, in attendance. Additionally, our exquisitie Business Career Services team had a booth at the career fair in the midst of all the action, and they played a key role in helping the U of I students take advantage of the available opportunities!
