Traditionally, every spring semester Women in Business hosts a silent auction to raise funds for club activities and every year, the club leadership adds their own touch in organizing the event. This year, apart from reaching out to professors, we have reached out to our very own classmates and asked for them to donate their time and skills. Items range from group dinners with professors and their families, a tiramisu cake, basket of beers and cheese to personalized fitness sessions to burn all those extra calories!
70% of the money that the club raises through this event will be donated to the Center for Women in Transition (CWIT), Champaign-Urbana. CWIT is a non-profit that provides housing and supportive services for families experiencing homelessness or who are victims of domestic violence. The Center has a long history of service in Champaign-Urbana and in the last year housed 140 women and 132 children. With the proceeds from the auction, WiB hopes to help CWIT in their continued effort to support families in need.
