Welcome to my first blog for the College of Business. Let me introduce myself, my name is Stephanie Soles and I am a junior pursuing a dual degree in Finance and International Business with a minor in Political Science. I have never blogged before so this will be an interesting experience.
I was born in Cali, Colombia (South America) and Spanish is my first language. On a side note, I have always wanted to learn Italian, but just didn't have the time to fit it in. I can understand somewhat when people speak Italian and Portuguese since they are so similar to Spanish. Back to introductions, I went to Oswego East High School even though I actually live in Aurora, IL. I am the first in my family to go to school in the U.S., so picking a university to attend was an intimidating process. Luckily, I had cousins who had gone to the University of Illinois and shared with me their experiences and the ins and outs of applying for college. Ultimately, I choose the University of Illinois and more specifically the College of Business because when I arrived on campus it just felt like I belonged here. It is cliche, but it is true that you just get a feeling that you belong.
The College of Business, to me, is a family. I'm in a Big 10 University, but I feel that I am not one in a crowd. I love the community and teamwork spirit at the College of Business and I cannot wait to share those experiences with you. That's a little about me, feel free to e-mail me any questions you have at firstname.lastname@example.org. I hope you have an amazing time exploring whichever path you choose to take. Good Luck!
