  • More than a Dream

As I lay down gazing out the window at a perfect Sun-day with bright and patchy white clouds, I come to the realization of how fast time flies by. It has already been one full year to the day when I decided to spread my wings and fly all the way across the country (Houston, Texas) in order to chase my passions in one of the most prestigious business schools in United States. The University of Illinois baby!

More than 7 hours on flight to a totally new place that I’ve only visited once, it could have been a complete nightmare or a completely awesome experience but thank the man above it was everything I dreamt of and even more! With so many things to do, see and experience like dorm food (soul night), grad school, breakout rooms, working with truly diverse teams, case competitions, presentations, sleepless nights, first UIUC football and  basketball games, tailgating, cook outs, frats and sororities, cultural learning, career fairs, interviewing, resume prep, onsite office visits, industry exposure, interactions with industry leaders and visionaries, community service, meet the deans, Sunday Small Talks, LEAD, La Casa Cultura, freshman orientation, fall colors, sky diving, farmers markets, rich heritage of UIUC, welcoming parties, beautiful campus, astounding structures, first snow fall and snow fights, spring blossoms, internships, leadership programs and the list never ends...

I hope you get the drift, the experience I have had and continue to foster keep amazing me everyday and for that UIUC has been more than a dream come true.

    Cheers,

    Matthew Hernandez
