  • Hey Everyone!

My name is Tracey Smolen and Im a Junior in the College of Business majoring in Accountancy.  I'm from Highland Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.  I knew that the University of Illinois was the right place for me ever since I visited in high school and attended my first Illini football game.  I could feel the spirit of the student body and knew this was the place for me!

On campus I’m involved in a variety of organizations.  I’m an active member of the Phi Gamma Nu Professional Business Fraternity, and currently serve as the Fundraising Chair.  I’m also a member of a social sorority and even find time to work in the College of Business Admissions Office.  There are so many different ways to get involved on campus! When you are here and have had an opportunity to explore, you will find it easy to find a niche.

The College of Business is wonderful because it offers students so many different opportunities. The Business Instructional Facility (BIF) is a place where you can see familiar faces and feel at home on campus.  As a sophomore, I used the alumni network to help me land  an internship in Chicago and I already have another internship set up with a major accounting firm for Summer 2012.

Feel free to respond to posts, I’m happy to answer any questions -- I want to show you why the University of Illinois College of Business is the best place to be!
