This past week Green Street was painted Orange and Blue, there was a big parade through Champaign-Urbana and all the proud alumni were back on campus to watch the Illini destroy Northwestern at Memorial Stadium.
Homecoming is without a doubt one of my favorite times of the year. The leaves are just starting to turn, the football season is already in full swing and I get to see close friends and family that have graduated. This year Homecoming was especially fun, my parents came down to visit and we had 50-yard line seats to Saturday's game. The Northwestern game was definitely the most exciting game yet! The Illini were down most of the time, but came back in the last 1:15 to win it! I've never heard the stadium cheer so loudly! It was one of those days where this entire campus was proud to be Illini!
When my parents visit we always eat at Papa Del's Pizza. I'm not kidding - it's the best pizza in the entire world! If you come visit campus I highly recommend trying it. At Papa Del's we ran into some people my Dad went to school with - it's cool seeing alumni return to campus to support Homecoming.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend! Papa Del's pizza, an Illini win and spending time with my family. It was a great way to celebrate the University's 101st Homecoming!
