  • Study Abroad is a Wonderful Opportunity

¡Hola a todos! I am currently in the beautiful city of Granada, Spain studying abroad here for the semester. I feel so extremely blessed to have this opportunity and it has been an incredible experience so far! I love being immersed in a new culture and learning new things each and every day. I have already been able to do and see so many awesome things. I have see some beautiful cathedrals, gone on a tour of La Alhambra (a huge palace), gone to a flamenco dancing performance, gone on hiking adventures to explore the city, eaten lots of delicious Spanish meals, and of course relaxed in cafes and talked with friends over tea and coffee. I am living with a host family, which has been a great way to practice my Spanish and truly experience the culture. They are so welcoming and patient with my broken Spanish. When I was sick, my host mom brought me breakfast in bed and multiple cups of tea. She is such a sweet lady. I have class two days a week and have the rest of the days available to explore Granada and also travel on the weekends. This past weekend, I traveled to Africa to visit the exotic city of Morocco. My favorite part of that trip was getting to ride a camel along the beach! We have next week off of school for Semana Blanca so I am traveling throughout Europe with a group of friends. We are going to France, Belgium, and Germany. I can’t wait! I have learned so much just over the past month that I have been here. It has been great to explore new cultures, learn about different ways of life, and gain a bigger perspective. I am also learning a lot about myself. It has truly been a growth experience and I would encourage everyone to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to study abroad! When else are you going to be able to go to school in another country for fourth months and travel the world?
