CAP Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2011

I Special presentation
Discussion of the Civil Service audit/reclassification began at 1pm and lasted almost two hours. Between 260 and 270 people attended.

III Review and Approval of Minutes Approved
IV AHR Report Academic Professional Development Fund (APDF) Fund has been restored and applications have been accepted since March 1, 2011. Funding is by fiscal year. Proration is being used between now and June for this year.

VI Elections
CAP Elections Kostas gave an election update. There are seven districts with openings with eight total openings. All have at least one nomination. District 10 had a late self-nomination that was accepted contingent on provost verification of eligibility. Online nomination form brings equality for nominations regarding length of Statement of Interest and time window of submission. Election begins Monday March 7 at 8 am and concludes Friday 5 pm.
Kostas provided handouts titled Bylaws Article III: Council Member Election Procedures and Bylaws Article IV: Academic Professional Senator Election Procedures.
AP Senate Elections Summary list of APs determined eligible was distributed by email. Self-nominations accepted from Mar 11 21, 2011 then provost verifies district. Elections will be run on March 28, 2011. If necessary a runoff election will be held on Monday April 4, 2011.
Length of service will be staggered. Senators will server for one year in districts 2,6,8, and 9. Senators will serve two years for districts 3,5, and 11.
Town hall meeting regarding AP Senators went fine, but few attended.
VII Committee Openings
Faculty Staff Assistance Advisory Committee positions are open. Karen says it is a good committee that is important, and meetings are quarterly. Sue volunteered.
VP for Academic Affairs Search Committee reps are being solicited. Brad volunteered to be on search committee.
VIII Other Committee Reports
CAPE award ceremony is on the same day as the next CAP meeting Tuesday April 5 in Lincoln Room at I-Hotel from 4 to 6 pm.
Senate Exec Committee Kostas mentioned a recently passed resolution regarding the role of chancellor. There was also a resolution by student body regarding appointments at exec level which they believe did not follow proper route of consulting with senate.
Campus Operations Committee Sandra reported regarding the Abbott power plant, Assembly hall renovations, the 6-pack, and bad road conditions.
IX Reclassification Next step is to get APs interested in conversion of appointments regarding the negative effect. Get on the agenda of the May 18 merit board meeting. Make reasoned individual communications. CAP reps will author a statement. Karens Summary was passed out.
