The Shalamar Baghs in Delhi, Lahore, and Srinagar are heritage sites that represent a shared artistic and cultural legacy of Mughal landscape design in the subcontinent that transcends national and regional boundaries. Each of them has had innovative conservation interventions and pressing challenges in recent years. The renowned "Shalamar Baghs" as individual historic gardens provide a stimulating yet grounded starting point for wider conversations on cultural landscape heritage conservation in South Asia. This workshop will convene leading historians and conservation architects to identify common issues and priorities for landscape heritage conservation theory and practice. The panel will be followed by a round table discussion on formulating a planning framework and possible collaborative projects that could be applicable to historic garden sites in South Asia.
