We live in a global world. American students travel abroad and study in many different countries while international students come from all across the world to study in US universities. While this makes for a rich learning environment, it can be a challenge for both students and instructors. Whether you are a domestic instructor with some international students or an international instructor dealing with typical US undergraduates, you will need to interact with people who are culturally different.
This workshop is not designed to provide a laundry list of specific behaviors related to one culture or another; its aim is to raise your awareness of the role culture plays in students' perceptions of and interactions with others. The goal of this workshop is to help you develop cultural intelligence - a way of thinking and being that can be applied to interactions with students from any number of cultural backgrounds. |
