ABSTRACT:

This talk addresses requirements for LTE security that are driven by LTE’s requirements for high speed, mobility support, and quality of service. An overview of threats to LTE base stations is presented. LTE must identify and allow only authorized users onto the LTE network. At the heart of LTE security are secure mobility mechanisms that ensure data and signaling are protected as the device moves between base stations. We discuss security mechanisms for mobile devices while roaming both between LTE base stations (intranetwork) and between LTE (4G) and 3G networks such as UMTS (internetwork).
