TSS Seminar: Marcus K. Rogers: "The Role of Behavioral Sciences in Information Security and Assurance"
ABSTRACT:
The presentation will discuss the role that behavioral science can and should play in the area of information security and assurance. In order to have effective and efficient information security controls, we need to pay attention to the human component and not just focus on the technology. The talk will examine the current state of the intersection between behavioral sciences and IA and discuss how the future might look.
BIOGRAPHY:
Marcus K. Rogers, Ph.D., CISSP, CCCI, DFCP, ACE, is the Director of the Cyber Forensics Program in the Dept. of Computer and Information Technology at Purdue University. He is a Professor, Faculty Scholar, Fellow of the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS), and Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. He is the past International Chair of the Law, Regulations, Compliance and Investigation Domain of the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) committee; Chair of the Planning Committee, Digital & Multimedia Sciences Section, American Academy of Forensic Sciences; and member, Advisory Committee, Digital Forensics Certification Board. Dr. Rogers was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Digital Forensic Practice and sits on the editorial board for several other professional journals. He is also a member of various other national and international committees focusing on digital forensic science and digital evidence. Dr. Rogers is the author of books, numerous book chapters, and journal publications in the field of digital forensics and applied psychological analysis. His research interests include applied cyber forensics, psychological digital crime scene analysis, and cyber terrorism.
