The Institute of Communications Research 2012 Alumni & Friends Reunion Conference
The Institute of Communications Research invites alumni to attend the 2012 Alumni & Friends Reunion Conference:
Producing Knowledge, Pushing Boundaries: 65 Years of Communications Research
March 2-3, 2012
U of I Urbana Campus
Keynote Speaker Lawrence Grossberg ‘76 PhD COMM and Morris Davis Distinguished Professor of Communication Studies and Cultural Studies at University of North Carolina:
“How can we sing - - - in a strange land? In search of political possibility.”
Political culture in the United States lives in the shadow of both fascism and 1960s. Yet we may have learned the wrong lessons. The possibilities of political struggle in the contemporary world depend on our capacities to re-imagine countercultural unities and to re-invent ways to sing the popular. Perhaps we should start with “What’s going on?”
Student funded Keynote speaker Aisha Durham ’07 PhD COMM, Assistant Professor, Texas A & M University
