Johns Hopkins University's Center for Transatlantic Relations is hosting a lecture, "Towards a More Dynamic Transatlantic Area of Growth and Investment," given by Vivian Reding. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's European Union Center will be hosting a live video feed of this lecture.

Viviane Reding has been the Vice President of the European Commission, responsible for Justice, Fundamentals Rights and Citizenship, since 2010. 

Prior to her role as Vice President, she was Commissioner responsible for Education, Culture, Youth, Media and Sports, then Commissioner responsible for Information Society  and Media. A member of the Luxembourg Parliament since 1979, Ms. Reding has served as the National President of Christian-Social Women and National President of the Christian-Social Party. In 1989, she was elected to the European Parliament, where she presided over the Committee on Social Affairs, Employment and the Working Environment, and the Committee for Civil Liberties and Home Affairs. Ms. Reding was also a journalist for leading newspaper,Luxemburger Wort, as well as President of the Luxembourg Union of Journalists from 1986 until 1998.
