The latest social, economic and political developments in Germany and Europe will be discussed. The topics will provide important background information for teachers of Economics, Social Studies, French or German.

Keynote by Dr. Henning Meyer from the London School of Economics:

The Eurozone is suffering from three overlapping crises: a structural crisis, a policy crisis and a crisis of democracy. A sustainable solution to the persistent problems of the single currency area can only be found by understanding the key challenges and creating political, economic and social strategies to tackle them. Time is running out fast and especially the high and rising levels of youth unemployment threaten to create a 'lost generation' in Europe that could fundamentally change the shape and direction of the European (dis)integration process in the decades ahead. This keynote speech will analyse the situation and suggest solutions with a special focus on the role of Germany as the biggest European economy.

Experts in the field of economics from Europe and the USA and speakers from the European Delegation in Washington will support the conference as presenters.
