“Secure Control of Multiagent Systems”

Abstract:

In this talk, we study security and privacy in networked multiagent systems. Man-in-the middle attacks in networked bilateral teleoperators are initially discussed. Attack strategies that allow the adversary to launch deleterious attacks are studied. Physics based authentication strategies are then provided to detect such attacks. The proposed detection framework is then extended to networked multiagent systems. Finally, the issue of privacy in such systems, while maintaining correctness of distributed consensus computation, is discussed.

Bio:

Nikhil Chopra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Maryland, College Park, where he is on the faculty since 2007. He received his Ph.D. degree in Systems and Entrepreneurial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006. His research interests include secure networked control systems, cooperative control of networked robots, distributed synchronization, and bilateral teleoperation. He is currently an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions On Automatic Control and IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems.
