The UIS Visual Arts Gallery presents SUP?, a series of photographs by emerging New York-based artist Sean Fader. SUP? offers photographic portraits that result from an extensive 365 day social project and âÂÂlived performanceâ in which the artist produced photographs with men that he met through online companionship websites. Fader pushes photography beyond its potential for making images and objects, and treats the discipline as a performative act of establishing relations. This exhibition will explore how we âÂÂimageâ ourselves in the projections of our supposed identity that we create for the consumption of others, as well as how these projections break down when we engage with others on a deeper, more substantiated level.
