“Sanitary Districts – How Green Can You Be?” presented by Rick Manner from the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District.
Free lunch will be provided by Pekara Bakery!
Manner has worked in sewage treatment over 20 years and environmental issues for 25 years. He attended the U of I in the 1980s chemical engineering and ending with environmental engineering. He returned to town in May 2011 as Executive Director of the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District.
Rick's Perspective: "I have been interested in thinking and living more-sustainably since I first ran into our local recycling center at our local high school. I have felt that Sustainability is an important characteristic to any good design or engineering work and it is an essential element of all environmental work. So I would like to share with you why Sanitary Districts are the original 'green' utility, living up to and exceeding the currently chic image of sustainable design for over 50 years. I would also like to share ideas about the future and expanding your definitions of 'green'."
