This work furthers the exploration of meaningful definitions for security of Functional Encryption. We propose new simulation based definitions for function privacy in addition to data privacy and study their achievability. In addition, we improve efficiency/underlying assumptions/security achieved by existing inner product Functional Encryption and Property Preserving Encryption schemes, in both the private and public key setting.
Shashank Agrawal is a third-year PhD student in the Computer Science department at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, advised by Manoj Prabhakaran. Shashank is primarily interested in the theory of cryptography. He obtained a B.Tech and MS in Computer Science and Engineering from IIIT-Hyderabad, India, under the guidance of Kannan Srinathan. Shashank spent the summer of 2012 as an intern in the Cryptography and Complexity group at Microsoft Research, India, working with Vipul Goyal.
