Illinois for Pakistan (IFP) is an initiative in response to the heavy monsoon floods that devastated Pakistan in summer 2010. The Illinois for Pakistan campaign has received approval from the Office of Volunteer Programs at the University of Illinois. The Illinois for Pakistan campaign will provide an avenue for the University of Illinois community, including registered student organizations, departments/units, faculty, and staff, and will include community-wide individuals and groups, interfaith groups, and businesses to help address the urgent needs in the disaster affected areas of Pakistan, by working on projects leading to a sustainable change. Vision of Project: To make a deep, people-to-people connection with a flood affected community, such that every dollar you raise and every minute of effort results in a meaningful, visible and sustainable change in the life of this community. We envision harnessing renewable and locally available resources for providing clean water, sustainable energy, healthcare, education and livelihood in this community. The project is looking for ambitious individuals looking to make a far reaching impact on an international project. Please email Amna at mahmud1@illinois.edu if interested!
