Office of Undergraduate Admissions' "Experience Illinois" works with counselors in Chicago Public Schools to host approximately 100 high-achieving ninth and tenth grade students who are low income or students of color to experience a day as a student at Illinois. This important program gives young students a concrete vision of life after high school and teaches them the importance of proper educational preparation to achieve academic and career goals.

CPS students will learn how Project NEURON, an NIH-funded science education partnership award project located on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus, develops curriculum materials and professional development opportunities for use in high school classrooms. Students will engage in a series of hands-on activities developed by University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign undergraduate students, graduate students, and science teachers. Students will have the opportunity to provide feedback.
