Global Studies 298: Education and Development: A Case Study in Ecuador, focuses on education as a factor in human, and therefore, national development. The group engages in a service-learning opportunity in which it creates and conducts a month-long summer enrichment experience for children in a small, lower income community just outside of Quito. Based on a global studies theme, the group offers modules on ESL, environmental sciences, sports and wellness, and arts and culture around the world. On the weekends, students travel to different areas in Ecuador to experience the cultural and natural diversity that Ecuador offers. This course has both on-campus and off-campus meetings. To learn more, please attend this information session or contact Michelle Castro at mccastr2@illinois.edu.
