EtoysIllinois team members Avigail Snir, Kathleen Smith, and Kathleen Harness will join the Squeakland Education team at the December 3– 7, 2012 Google Summer of Code (GSoC) Doc Camp. Doc Camp is held at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California. The Squeakland Education team also includes Randy Catton from Minnesota, Steve Thomas from New Jersey, and Rita Freudenberg from Magdeburg Germany.
The Doc Camp consists of two major components:
- an “Unconference” which will explore topics on documentation of free software
- Book Sprints to write books to be launched in print and eBook format on the event’s final day
Doc Camp is designed to:
- provide a meeting place for free software communities to work on creating a book for their project
- attract new people to free software projects
- share documentation knowledge and experience
The 2012 GSoC Doc Camp is co-organized by GSoC, Aspiration, and FLOSS Manuals. Unconference facilitation conducted by Allen Gunn, and Book Sprint facilitated by Adam Hyde.
