Rob Kirby (UC-Berkeley) will present "at is the future of math journals?."
Abstract: I will discuss the economics of the current publishing model which relies mostly on subscriptions, and how this will be affected by growing requirements from public funding agencies that any work funded by them be made available free to the world after a variable time period, usually no more than a year. As we move towards open access, who will pay for there are indeed some costs.
