In 2012 Bloomington-Normal's nonprofit Ecology Action Center ventured outside the box with two unique efforts--redesigning a community special event to eliminate all landfill-bound waste and then holding the first ever locally funded Household Hazardous Waste Collection in McLean County. EAC Executive Director Michael Brown will discuss the motivations, strategies, and results of these two initiatives and what comes next in Zero Waste and HHW strategies in Bloomington-Normal.
