We will talk about the deal terms that matter to investors and the VC investment process and documents as well as standard deal terms, including founders equity. How is pre-money value determined? What’s a ‘typical’ deal look like? What if things don’t go as planned? We’ll address these topics and more… Louis P. Berneman is the founding partner of Osage University Partners. Osage University Partners (OUP) is a unique $100 million venture fund that has partnered with select research institutions, including UIUC and UIC, to invest in their start ups. Osage invests in early, middle, and stage deals across all technology sectors. To date, OUP I has made 31 investments and has already has had numerous exits, including 3 IPOs, 1 M&A ($300 million+ acquisition price), and has more companies maturing towards exit. Prior to founding OUP, Lou was Managing Director of the University of Pennsylvania Center for Technology Transfer and past president of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM). He has co-founded and led 4 academic startups.
