Entrepreneurs-in-residence Tim Hoerr and Dennis Beard will discuss the trends in company funding in 2012, as well as local companies that have closed transactions in the past year. Tim Hoerr is a seasoned business executive with over 25 years of experience spanning a variety of industries. He presently serves a number of high tech start-up companies including Cbana Labs, Striped Sail, Diagnostic Photonics, and Snapshot Energy. He previously served as Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of iCyt, a rapidly growing bioscience technology firm located in the University of Illinois Research Park, Champaign, Illinois. Tim received the Entrepreneurial Excellence in Management Award at the Innovation Celebration ceremony sponsored by the University of Illinois and Champaign County Economic Development Corporation. Dennis Beard is General Partner and CFO of Open Prairie Ventures, Principal with Serra Ventures, Lecturer at the UI College of Business, and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) at EnterpriseWorks. Dennis was involved in leading investments in portfolio companies including iCyt, CPAC, TomoTherapy, and ISSI and was Controller for SLM instruments..Lunch will be served.
