The 2013 Gryphon Lecture is entitled "Paradoxically Speaking: Just one of the Ways Children's Folktales Engage Listeners" and will be presented by Brian Sturm. Sturm is Associate Professor of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina and a scholar of literature, digital worlds, and storytelling, as well as being a practicing storyteller himself.
A reception will follow the lecture in GSLIS 131 and the East Foyer.
Illinois educators are eligible to receive CDPUs for this event.
Free and open to the public, the Gryphon Lecture series is hosted every spring semester by the Center for Children's Books and features a leading scholar in the field of youth literature.
