"Research on Sex/Gender Differences: Lessons from Drug Abuse Research"

Cora Lee Wetherington, PhD, Women and Sex/Gender Differences Research Coordinator, National Institute on Drug Abuse

 Thursday, March 29, 2012

10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Moss Auditorium, College of Medicine Research Building
909 S. Wolcott, First Floor, Rm 1020

This talk will highlight research findings on male-female differences in drug abuse across a range of topics including epidemiology, animal model research, vulnerability factors, brain imaging, prevention and treatment.  These findings will serve to highlight the importance of taking a sex/gender-based approach to drug abuse research and the scientific pitfalls of failing to do so.

The UIC BIRCWH program is an NIH-funded K12 training grant to support career development for junior faculty engaged in women's health research.
