March 29: UIC BIRCWH Program for our Women's Health Research Day seminar: Research on Sex/Gender Differences: Lessons from Drug Abuse Research
"Research on Sex/Gender Differences: Lessons from Drug Abuse Research"
Thursday, March 29, 2012
This talk will highlight research findings on male-female differences in drug abuse across a range of topics including epidemiology, animal model research, vulnerability factors, brain imaging, prevention and treatment. These findings will serve to highlight the importance of taking a sex/gender-based approach to drug abuse research and the scientific pitfalls of failing to do so.
The UIC BIRCWH program is an NIH-funded K12 training grant to support career development for junior faculty engaged in women's health research. For more information on this event, please contact Abby Koch at abbykoch@uic.edu or visit the UIC BIRCWH website at http://www.uic.edu/orgs/womenshealth/bircwh.htm.
