IHRP Methodology Research Core: "The Curious Case of Causal Connections"
Title: "The Curious Case of Causal Connections"
Speaker: Richard T. Campbell, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Biostatistics and Sociology, Member, IHRP Methodology Research Core, IHRP Fellow
Despite a great deal of recent work, inferring causation based on non-randomized "observational" studies remains a controversial matter. This talk will review the history of work in the area and try to put current developments into a context that both younger and older investigators will find informative.
MRC Chalk Talks are informal educational seminars about current methodological issues hosted by the IHRP Methodology Research Core. This series meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 1 pm. Both senior researchers and junior researchers, including postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students designing their own studies, are welcome.
