After tours with Chick Corea and the Woody Herman Band, Jim Pugh settled into a career as a freelance trombonist for film scores, advertisements, and recordings with Yo-Yo Ma, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Pink Floyd, and Frank Sinatra. He is also a distinguished educator, composer, clinician, and consultant for trombone mouthpieces. Before coming to Illinois in 2005, he taught at SUNY-Purchase College, the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and New York University.
