"Art as Provocation" features works from Krannert Art Museum's permanent collection whose creators used art to expose iniquities surrounding race, gender, and sexual orientation, to protest military conflict, and to criticize growing class disparity. The contemporary artists whose work is highlighted in this exhibition utilize varying forms of appropriation, humor, and subversion to confront current realities and call for change. Paintings, sculpture, and works on paper by artists such as Michael Ray Charles, Vernon Fisher, Barbara Kruger, Lorna Simpson, and Carrie May Weems are included.
