This boot camp is an example-driven two-day workshop on basic computing skills, hosted by the Computational Science & Engineering program at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Short tutorials alternate with hands-on practical exercises, and participants are encouraged both to help one another, and to try applying what they have learned to their own research problems during and between sessions. Participants should bring their own laptops to work on.
We focus on the use of sound software development practices such as version control, as well as on the use of Python for research applications.
See the boot camp webpage for more information.
