Join us for the first regional convening of LRAN in Chicago featuring innovative collaborations underway locally that apply research strategies to promote labor organizing and worker justice. The program will highlight information on LRAN's own research initiatives and opportunities to participate locally and nationally. The panel discussion will feature:
*Myrla Baldonado (Latino Union) and Nik Theodore (UIC College of Urban Planning & Public Affairs ) on their recent research
collaboration exposing working conditions among low-wage domestic workers.
*Marsha Love (UIC School of Public Health) and Traci Myers (SEIU Healthcare IL/IN) on a program to prevent worker injuries in the fast growing home care industry.
*Janise Hurtig (UIC College of Education) and representative from UFCW (invited) on applying popular education strategies to campaign evaluation.
The panel will be followed by a discussion moderated by consultant and community activist Nacho Gonzalez during which participants will be able to share their own research and organizing work and reflect on the challenges and opportunities that such collaborations present.
