The Library's Data Services group is sponsoring a series of presentations this Spring. Awardees of grants through the Library's Data Purchase Program will be talking about the datasets that were acquired on their behalf, and how those datasets are being used to advance their research projects. All presentations will be in Main Library Room 428. Anna Popova will be discussing the American Psychological Association presidential elections datasets, which contain ballot data. This data will be used to explore how competing notions of rational social choice agree with each other, specifically highlighting that gloom theoretical expectations do not find empirical support in real election data and that behavioral research in social choice may reveal many future surprises.
