Simine Short at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center, Porter, IN
Simine Short will share details on her new book Locomotive to Aeromotive: Octave Chanute and the Transportation Revolution discussing the life of Octave Chanute, a preeminent civil engineer in the development of our country's transportation system, but also a major figure in the development of aviation. In 1896 and 1897, Chanute and his team experimented with gliders in the dunes of Lake Michigan, in Lake and Porter County. In her talk she will also show photos of the flying activity and newspaper articles from around the world. Book signing opportunities will occur after the lecture.
