Leading Mali Experts to Visit U of I
In recent weeks, the long ignored West African nation of Mali has plunged into the headlines. The French military incursion, followed by a complicated hostage-taking in Algeria, has suddenly brought this country front page status. Yet, most media commentators have had to do a quick study on this situation, often leaving major gaps in their coverage. Fortunately, the Center for African Studies at the University of Illinois will have the pleasure of hosting two nationally known scholars on Mail who can help to fill those gaps.
